Our client was a young couple, with no children so far. Our arrangement change was focused on opening, releasing and lighting the premises to as large extent as possible with regard of a perspective of being separated again in order to create separate closable rooms.

During the total reconstruction of the premises almost all original partitions have been removed and a few new partitions have been added only. Moreover, all floor layers down to the frame structure have been removed; this action resulted in obtaining new premises for hygienic distributors with consequent movement of the entire hygienic background to a new, more suitable position. After implementation of these actions we will have obtained the only free room with the only door instead of seven of them originally installed.

Particular zones of the apartment are based on the functional scheme originally defined by the rooms. The existing frame wall running through the centre of the arrangement and the unchanged position of the kitchen unit designated the apartment to be divided into a dwelling-social unit, in which the living room is cross-fading with the dining and kitchen areas and into a relax-working unit of the bedroom and a small workroom being connected / divided by a double-faced shelf wall. The imaginary central block situated at the border of the two units will include the entrance hall and the moved bathroom joined with the toilet.

If the couple has a child in the future, the new arrangement will offer a possibility to create a children’s room by adding a brick partition between the existing bedroom and the workroom currently divided by the shelf wall open to the both sides. The actual arrangement is therefore flexible enough and enables the only large room to be divided into three separate rooms, if necessary.
